The Institute of Medicine reported that over 100 Million Americans suffer from Chronic Pain – what a huge number! It is true that we all experience aches and pains from time to time, especially as we get older. However, there is a particular condition of pain different from the usual; that is called – Chronic pain! That it is why; it’s important we understood what exactly a chronic pain is, and how to live by it.
Do you remember the last time you injured yourself? It hurt, right? And the moment the wound got healed you are free from pain, but chronic pain is entirely different. This signal stops as soon as the cause of the pain is resolved, and your body repairs the wound. Below are some conditions that can lead to chronic pain!

Some symptoms can accompany chronic pain and can even arise as a direct result of the pain. Some symptoms may be accompanied chronic pain and may appear as a direct consequence of pain. This can include:

- Reduce stress in your life: It has been proven that stress aids chronic pain; that is why it’s important to do everything in other to reduce stress in your day to day activities.
- Eat Healthy Meal: I am sure you must have heard more than once that “we are what we eat.” If you want a healthy life; it’s pertinent to eat nothing but a healthy meal.
- Stop Taking Alcohol: Did I just that? Yes, you need to reduce your alcohol intake if you can’t stop it right away. This is because; alcohol will worsen your sleeping problem. Remember, you already not enjoy your sleep with chronic pain; so, you do not need to compound your sleeping problem by taking alcohol.
- Join a Support Group: Discrimination and ignorance will only make matter worse; so, try and get involved with other people living with chronic pain. This will greatly help you; knowing that you are not the only one living with chronic pain. This will make your life easier; as you will benefit from their wealth of wisdom– trust me!
- Quit Smoking and Do More Exercise: This has proven over the years to ease your pain greatly. Remember, exercise is another effective way to reduce pain; as it helps to strengthen the muscles, prevents re-injuries. Additionally, exercise can also contribute to keep your weight, reduce heart disease risk and control blood sugar.
