Unfortunately, some people think it only safe to take water only when you are thirsty - I have news for you! The truth is that you don’t even feel thirsty until you lose about 2% of your body weight in water.

Research already showed that taking enough water will help you decrease calorie intake in the body thereby reducing the risk of weight gain and obesity. Truth be told; water boosts your caloric burn! This is possible because your body took the same effort to process (i.e., burn calorie) your entire intake either food or water - it’s called “diet-induced thermogenesis.”

When our body is dehydrated, the fluid loss causes a drop in blood volume, which makes the heart work harder to push oxygen and nutrients through the bloodstream to the brain, skin, and muscles.

Even with all the effort of our immune system in preventing our body against infection; the defense fails sometimes, and germs invade successfully to make you sick. That is why taking enough water is essential. This will help your immune system from failing in its effort to defend your body against invaders. Water also is essential in the production of lymph. So, if your skin is not getting enough water, it will become dry, tight and flaky. Remember, dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.

It is important we replenish the water we lose every day due to metabolism, respiration and body functions. However, it is unfortunate to know that our skin is the last organ to receive water. That is why it’s also good to leave water on our body after bath or shower.
