Benefits of Water
Just tell me one thing that is essential to health that does not contain liquid or water; then I will show you something of less value! Water is crucial when it comes to life; it is the second most important element after air. There is little or nothing we can do without water. It contains the largest part of the human brain, which is made up of 95% water, 82% of blood and 90% lungs. The benefits of water are so numerous that the doctors advise us to drink at least 5 liters of water every day. Unfortunately, some people are not still aware of these benefits. That is why I will be writing on some benefits of drinking water.
- Promotes weight loss
Come to think of it; how will you feel if you get to know that taking enough water can help you reduce weight? Great, right! That is exactly what water does to you; when you take enough water. Unfortunately, some people think it only safe to take water only when you are thirsty - I have news for you! The truth is that you don’t even feel thirsty until you lose about 2% of your body weight in water.
Research already showed that taking enough water will help you decrease calorie intake in the body thereby reducing the risk of weight gain and obesity. Truth be told; water boosts your caloric burn! This is possible because your body took the same effort to process (i.e., burn calorie) your entire intake either food or water - it’s called “diet-induced thermogenesis.”
- Increases energy and removes fatigue
Peradventure you were not impressed with my first reason to taking water. This second reason is actually enough to change your bad habit towards water. Do you know that some of the common symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, and weakness can be taken care of by taking a glass of water?
It may interest you to know that water accounts for approximately 60% of our body weight. This means, every single organ in our body needs some level of water to function properly! When our body is dehydrated, the fluid loss causes a drop in blood volume, which makes the heart work harder to push oxygen and nutrients through the bloodstream to the brain, skin, and muscles.
That is why drinking enough water is truly an inexpensive remedy that'll increase energy, fight fatigue, and help keep your body in good stand.
- Assists with digestion
You are the type that eats without taken enough water after or during a meal; it high time you stop such habit! This is because taken enough water during or after a meal helps in food digestion. Water and other liquids help break down food so that your body can absorb the nutrients. Water also softens stool, which helps prevent constipation.
- Removes toxins from our system
Toxins are actually a normal part of our body intake of food and oxygen. The bowel disposes of toxins from the digestive system, and the liver helps clear the way for other organs to function properly and help rid of those unwanted toxins. Water flushes toxins and waste from the body and transports nutrients to where they are needed. Without water, the contents of your colon can dry out and get stuck, eventually cause constipation.
- Boosts our immune system
What is an immune system and how does water improve our immune system? This is the network of cells, tissues, and organs coming together to protect the body against infections and toxins. Even with all the effort of our immune system in preventing our body against infection; the defense fails sometimes, and germs invade successfully to make you sick. That is why taking enough water is essential. This will help your immune system from failing in its effort to defend your body against invaders. Water also is essential in the production of lymph. The lymphatic system is an important part of our bodies immunity response.
- Improves skin complexion
There are so many organs in the body in which skin is one of them, and just like any other part of the body; the skin is made up of cells which are made up of water. So, if your skin is not getting enough water, it will become dry, tight and flaky. Remember, dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.
It is important we replenish the water we lose every day due to metabolism, respiration and body functions. However, it is unfortunate to know that our skin is the last organ to receive water. That is why it’s also good to leave water on our body after bath or shower.
Drinking enough water daily is essential for good health because of water aids in digestion, circulation, absorption, and excretion.
